2024 First Flush: Nature’s Beauty in a Cup
Lovers of the leaf, rejoice! The dormancy period is over and the Darjeeling hillsides are radiant with young, fragrant leaves. Rich in flavor, these leaves steep a delicate cup, sure to delight the senses. Plucking date: March 22, 2024.
We are excited to bring you this year’s first spring Darjeeling leaves from Steinthal Tea Estate, the first place where Darjeeling tea was planted in 1852, located in the Northern region of West Bengal, India. This historical garden is located along mountain slopes ranging from 2,100 to 5,900 feet.
We have air freighted this hand-plucked Darjeeling black tea to ensure the freshest cup possible. Regarded as the ultimate tea experience, only limited quantities of this full leaf tea are available. Enjoy sip by sip.
Steinthal Tea Estate, the oldest tea estate in Darjeeling, is nestled amidst rolling hills, with natural forests, waterfalls, and a meandering river. This first flush tea leaf yields an amber-gold cup with rich floral notes. Sweet honey undertones enhance the lively flavor and lingering crisp finish.

This first flush Darjeeling tea has less than half the amount of caffeine per cup than in a similar-sized cup of coffee. More about caffeine.
Fill your kettle with fresh, filtered water and heat to just short of boiling (195° F). Warm your teapot by swirling steamy water in it and then pour it out. Place one teaspoon of tea leaves per 6 oz of water into your pot or infusing basket. Pour the heated water over the tea leaves and infuse for 2-3 minutes. Serve the tea. Avoid letting the leaves stew. Enjoy sip by sip. Add the used tea leaves to your garden. They make a healthy fertilizer for plants.
